South Korea’s protesters shout slogans during a candle rally against import of US beef in Seoul, South Korea, Saturday, after the USDA announced April 24 that America’s fourth case of mad cow disease was discovered in a 10-year-old cow. Ahn Young-joon/AP
A few years ago, after the discovery of a case of mad cow in Britain, South Koreans were so up in arms against import of American beef for months. It significantly impacted both the businesses that deal with the beef itself and U.S.-Korean relations in general.
A few weeks ago I went with some friends to a meat restaurant that served American beef and the normally packed establishment was nearly empty.
Not looking forward to what will happen if this continues and more cases are discovered.
